Unearthing the potential of the evolving internet for nonprofits

The internet is evolving, and nonprofits risk being left behind. We want the social sector to influence the development of Web3 rather than having to repurpose commercially positioned technologies for social benefit.

So we’re inviting 5 nonprofits to a 3-day learning immersion, to discover the Web3 landscape and explore together the potential for you in your context. We know that ‘Web3’ is a bit of a buzzword. In this case we are using it as an easy catch-all term for the values, technologies and organising forms that are emerging out of the latest evolution of the internet.

👀 Overview

Catalyst, in collaboration with Huddlecraft, are offering a facilitated and supported space in which you can explore the potential of Web3 / evolving internet technologies for furthering the aims and impact of the nonprofit you represent.

This support is in the form of an online learning immersion alongside a small peer group of people from the social charity sector, and we can offer an honorarium to each charity.

🥸 Who is it for?

You are a UK social sector nonprofit representative that is interested in the potential that decentralising technologies hold for your organisation, but might lack the support to realise it.

You have heard of the term Web3 and are already interested in exploring the potential of decentralised technologies for your charity.

You have a colleague to join you - and between you, you have decision-making power and opportunity to take ideas forward.

You might:

• Be curious about how to innovate the way you organise through decentralising technologies, like integrating new tools to support your organisational governance, or to encourage more of your beneficiaries to have a say in what you do and how you do it.
• Want to create a new form of value with your community through using tokens, for example you might be a social care charity looking to incentivise meaningful encounters between volunteers and your care community.
• Be interested in better tracing and communicating the impact of your funding through the use of blockchain or enabling platforms like Open Collective.
